Industrial Parts Counter & Equipment Intake Coordinator



Position Overview

We are seeking a friendly, organized, and mechanically curious individual to manage the front counter of our industrial motor and equipment repair facility. This role serves as the first point of contact for customers bringing in equipment for repair or purchasing industrial components.

The position is responsible for greeting walk-in customers, coordinating equipment drop-offs, assisting with basic parts sales, and routing technical inquiries to the appropriate team members. The ideal candidate is comfortable interacting with electricians, maintenance technicians, contractors, and small business owners in a fast-paced industrial environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Customer Counter Support

  • Greet walk-in customers and assist with equipment drop-offs and parts inquiries
  • Help customers determine whether equipment should be evaluated for repair or replaced
  • Process basic parts sales including motors, capacitors, belts, pulleys, and related components
  • Maintain a professional and welcoming front counter experience

Equipment Intake Coordination

  • Log incoming motors, pumps, gearboxes, and other equipment into the system
  • Collect customer information and basic equipment details
  • Coordinate with shipping/warehouse staff to safely unload equipment using forklifts or pallet jacks
  • Ensure equipment is properly tagged and routed into the shop for evaluation

Customer Inquiry Routing

  • Answer inbound phone calls and direct inquiries to the appropriate department (repair, product sales, service, or finance)
  • Assist with order entry and customer follow-up when appropriate
  • Route technical questions to product specialists or repair coordinators as needed

Internal Coordination

  • Work closely with repair coordination, product specialists, and shop personnel
  • Help ensure incoming equipment and customer requests are properly documented and routed
  • Support the sales and operations teams by capturing customer needs accurately

Qualifications:

Preferred backgrounds include experience in:

  • Industrial parts counters
  • Auto parts stores
  • HVAC or plumbing supply houses
  • Industrial distribution
  • Mechanical or technical customer service environments

Other qualifications:

  • Strong customer service and communication skills
  • Comfortable working in an industrial or shop environment
  • Mechanically curious with willingness to learn about motors and industrial equipment
  • Organized and able to manage multiple customer interactions
  • Ability to remain calm and professional in a busy counter environment

Technical expertise in electric motors or industrial equipment is not required, but a willingness to learn is important.
