In a heartfelt address to the members of the Smaller Manufacturers Association of Connecticut (SMA-CT), Nancy Traver, Human Resources Manager at Traver IDC, reflected with a profound sense of gratitude and fulfillment that marked her tenure as president of the association. SMA-CT is a statewide organization dedicated to helping manufacturing grow throughout the state.
During the address, Traver stated, “Serving as your President of the SMA over the past year has been one of the most rewarding experiences of my professional life.” Reflecting on her term, Nancy went on to recognize the business-minded individuals who make up the organization by saying “The Smaller Manufacturers Association is more than just a group of colleagues in the industry; it is a vibrant community of innovators, thinkers, and leaders.”
The room listened intently as she extended her deep appreciation to the SMA board and the entire membership while highlighting their commitment, teamwork, and passion as driving forces behind the year’s accomplishments. Reminiscing on the numerous networking events, insightful programs on critical topics, interactive plant tours, golf tournaments, and holiday gatherings, hosted by both SMA and SMArt (SMA rising talent), Nancy reflected on a manufacturing community in action. “The collaborative spirit of the SMA is what makes our association truly exceptional”, she expressed.
Looking ahead to the future with confidence, Nancy welcomed newly elected President of the Smaller Manufacturers Association, Carmen Romeo, Chocolatier and President of Fascia’s Chocolates in Waterbury, CT. With a wealth of experience and a “fresh perspective,” Nancy added that Carmen is poised to lead the association to new heights.
A testament to her ongoing involvement in the community and her dedication to shaping the future of manufacturing, Nancy will continue to play an active role in the SMA as a member of the Board of Directors.
“Thank you, once again, for a remarkable year. I look forward to witnessing the incredible ways in which Carmen and the new executive team will lead the SMA forward. Here’s to continued success and growth in the years to come!”
Emphasizing the importance of growth and renewal, efforts to expand the Board with new members was highlighted. “Today, as I pass the baton, I am reminded of the continual need for growth and renewal. This is why we are actively seeking to expand our board with new members who share our passion for the SMA.” Individuals in manufacturing or adjacent industries are encouraged to join the association to influence the industry's direction, contribute to meaningful change, and build personal and professional networks.
